On Henry Grady’s statue
In the winter of 2019, I co-wrote an editorial with colleagues at Georgia State University’s student newspaper, The Signal. In it we called for the relocation of a Henry Grady statue, featured prominently in a downtown square, to the grounds of a local history center.
We were the first such group to call attention to the statue, leading to the editorial’s instant virality. The story was distributed nationally via Associated Press coverage, and it was also covered extensively by nearly ever major Atlanta news outlet.
